you especially see it when the circuit overseer comes by.

when i was about 6/7 there was a talk that made reference to the violence of teenage mutant ninja turtles.

Birthdays were the worst I think, I remember all the way up through high school having to sit isolated from the class as they had delicios cake and/or cupcakes.

Pokemon was trashed too, all my bro's superhero posters were trashed one time, a bunch of shit. But my little bro and I were rebels from the beginning, we watched R-rated movies whenever we could, would sneak episodes of anything awesome when mom wasn't around, oh and Harry Potter was heavily frowned upon but that was okay because I didn't really like him that much.

We though that Rated- "R" meant the movie was going to be "really" good until I entered my teen years and became a religious douche. One time I made my brother destroy his copy of the movie Superbad, when I swallowed the kool-aid I really did become kind of an ass.

New to studies Thank You

i am fairly new to learning the truth with jehovah's witnesses.

we have been having 2 home bible studies a week for over 4 months now and we started going to the kingdom hall 3+ months now.

i am enjoying my studies and the brothers and sisters are wonderful .

Sorry mystical but as an individual who served as a witness for 13 years I have to tell you that the joy you're experiencing is short lived. Why don't you research topics such as: child sex abuse and ask your bible teachers about it. You'll be surprised that they will either deny it or say that somebody with ill will is out for a personal vendetta against the religion.

Best wishes and if you do decide in the future to pursue this way of life be advised that it's a long hard road to pleasing Jehovah and doing the monkey dance for The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society gets old really quick.

My mother was df'd for some bullshit while there were fornicators and drug users among the congregation- that was one of the first moments I realized something was off. Then a few years later I was listening to this song by Immortal Technique called "Leaving the past" where he says "it's a bad decision to blindly follow any religion."

That was the moment where I finally realized that I didn't know anything about my religion besides the things they themselves taught me, so I did a quick internet search and stumbled upon jwfacts.com. The sex abuse was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back that started my fun path far away from the JW's.

And the rest is history, surprise!

I used to loathe the CO visits, those were probably the first moments I started to see the beast behind the mask. There were a few douche bag elders who would all of a sudden became loving and respectful whenever the CO was visiting.

I remember a few times where people would slip the guy "cards" which I knew were full of money for his time and dedication to the congregation. The way everyone acted different when this one dude came around was gross and humorous at the same time but definitely showed the pyramid hard at work.

This is incredible, I was a person that came in during the 90's and can't help but be astounded when I read these kinds of comments directly from the magazines. More hard evidence that it's just some religion of the many that are available to the gullible masses.

I have to call bullshit on that part as I know there's 8 dudes in Brooklyn that had a lot to do with it. This reminds me a lot of:

It's crazy how the JW's always use this text to reference the outside world as proof of the last days but are incapable of seeing how they have no affection for those they're supposed to love most. All because of fear, fear of destruction, of not pleasing God, of not following every ridiculous rule the WT has set out for our planned lives. I never thought about it before but now I realize how petty religion makes God seem- like some kid who doesn't get what he wants so he throws fits until someone responds to the tantrum. The Jehovah I believed in was reasonable, loving, and understanding- not a closed ear being only open to his points of view.

I remember listening to this Les Brown speech where he said something like, "fear is the most subtle and destructive of all human diseases." He was so right...

OMG! Not df'd after committing adultery?

That dude must've definitely lied his ass off in the JC, it just makes my blood boil to think that these committees are supposedly in place as a means to keep God's congregation clean yet God can't see the facts. Always some bullshit where the offender is free and the victim gets boned.

if i had a quid for the amount of times i've been told that the reason i no longer see evidence for a god is because the watchtower(tm) damaged my trust in god.....................................i'd have at least a pony!*.

could there be any truth in this?.

have you been told similar for your choices in 'spirituality'?.

I'm in agreeance with Oculos, although I haven't looked for another God or some other denomination I heavily doubt I ever will because of the what the JW's did. I'm sort of indifferent about God right now although I've never doubted his existence, I'm definitely taking a break from wanting to "please" him anytime soon.
